| I
shoot both 35 mm and Digital Capture. 35
mm film images start with both negative or positive film. They
are scanned at a very high resolution of 4000 dpi. Digital
camera images are captured in the RAW format so the software in the
camera does not make any changes to the image. The RAW images
have much more information and give me ultimate control to achieve the
highest quality and most realistic looking prints possible.
All images are then processed on the computer to bring out the light, look and feel of the scene as I remember it. I do all of my own printing up to 13" x 44" using Epson Ultra Chrome inks on Epson paper. The name of the process is called Giclee (gee-clay), which is French for "fine spray". These prints have a life of approximately 76 years, which exceeds Fujicolor Crystal Archive prints of approximately 60 years. For prints larger than 13" x 44" I have the same process, inks and paper used at a top imaging company, using my actual files for consistent quality. |
